Seriously fun classical music
The C’mon (Chamber music old & new) Festival began life as an Edmonton International Fringe Festival BYOV in 2013. Our mission is to delight and surprise Edmonton audiences with the riches and variety of (mostly) western classical music. Juxtaposing soundscapes of contemporary composers with traditional chamber music repertoire, the programming connects our shared humanity across the centuries, through the powerful and intimate medium of chamber music.
During the Covid19 pandemic the C’mon Festival co-produced a documentary with Sticks & Stones called Chamber, directed by Colin Waugh. Filmed in June 2020 at the Winspear Centre and various outdoor locations in Edmonton, it showcases performances by several C’mon Festival musicians, and explores what chamber music means for them. The film also delves into the impact of the early days of the pandemic on their lives. We were very proud to have been an official selection for the 2021 Edmonton International Film Festival.
